No back lash. Excellent focuser. JMI EV1 $185 Upgrade The EV1 has an extra fine focus knob that reduces focuser travel by 5:1 ratio when you turn it. It's a bit smoother and can better hold heavy eyepiece barlow combinations or bino viewers. Can be swiveled on it's base to the most convenient position for the focusing knobs.
